Before Installation
Place the housing on a stable foundation with enough clearance to remove the cover and basket. Confirm the vessel rating, gasket compatibility, flow direction and connection standard against project documents. Support connected piping so its weight does not load the housing nozzles.
Connect Piping and Instruments
Install pressure gauges upstream and downstream, or a differential-pressure instrument, where required by the process design. Provide suitable venting and drainage. Use compatible gaskets and tighten flanges evenly according to site procedure.
Startup
Check that the bag is seated correctly in the basket and the cover seal is clean. Close the drain, open the vent as designed and fill gradually. Remove trapped air where the equipment procedure permits, bring the system up to operating pressure slowly and check for leaks.
Monitor Operating Conditions
Record inlet and outlet pressure, flow and change intervals. Rising differential pressure or falling flow may indicate that the bag is loading with solids. Use the process-specific maintenance limit; there is no single threshold for every system.
Safe Bag Replacement
- Stop the pump and isolate the housing.
- Relieve pressure and drain the vessel safely.
- Verify zero pressure before loosening the cover.
- Remove the used bag and inspect the basket and sealing surfaces.
- Install the correct replacement bag, seat the seal and close the cover evenly.
- Restart gradually and check for leakage.
Never open a pressurized filter vessel. Follow the equipment manual, site lockout procedures and applicable safety requirements.
